Got printer offline error while printing? This error occurs when your printer faces a hard time to communicate with your system. Printers as such do not work on their own unless they get connected to any computer. Check out the following steps to Get back your offline printer to Online:
Check WiFi Network Connectivity:
Make sure your printer is connected to the Internet. Also you need to ensure that your printer and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
If you still face offline errors then check the password of the wifi network and try to reconnect the printer to the Wi-Fi network.
Connect With Ethernet Cable:
If your printer is still offline on the wireless network then you must try to print using ethernet cable. All printers have an ethernet cable port, you need to connect this with a computer.
Now go to your system control panel to check if you could see the printer name under “Printer & scanners.” If yes, then restart your printer once, and you will get back your printer online.
Check printer status:
Ensure that your printer is not set to offline by default in its settings on the system. Mostly happens when you buy a new printer or when you use any printer for the first time.
Navigate to your “printer & Scanners” and double click on your printer name to open its setting. Now check printer status, if it is set “offline” by default then click the button to change its status to offline.
Reinstall Your Printer Drive:
If none of the above methods worked then you need to reinstall printer drives. Just search over the Internet and download the printer driver according to your printer model and install it.
Update the Printer’s Device Driver:
Outdated printer drivers can cause the Printer not responding message to appear. However, you can fix that problem simply by installing the latest drivers for your printer.
The simplest way to do that is to use the Device Manager. Windows will try to download a suitable driver for your printer. If that doesn’t work, you can always download the latest driver directly from the manufacturer’s website.
There are a number of printers that have wi-fi, which means you can print easily without wires from your laptop, desktop, tablet or smartphone. You don’t have to be in the same room, or in some cases the same building, to print from a wireless printer. Follow the below steps to connect your printer to Wi-Fi network.
Connect to a wireless network:
Printers with screens display step-by-step instructions for setting up theWi-Fi connection when you first turn on the printer. If you don’t set up the wireless connection during the start-up process you can set it up later.
Look for the wireless set-up ‘wizard’ within ‘wireless settings’ or ‘networking’ in the printer’s menu and follow the steps to connect with wireless network.
Use the WPS pairing button:
For this process your printer and router are both compatible with Wireless Protected Setup (WPS) this should be an option in the printer’s network menu.
If so, when prompted, all you need to do is press the WPS pairing button on your router and the corresponding button on the printer to wirelessly connect the printer to the network.
Wi-Fi Auto-connect:
This feature is mostly available on most printers and is very easy to use. You can use it if the computer is already set up on your wi-fi network.
Select Wi-fi Auto-connect and the printer looks at the network your computer is on and then uses this information to connect itself to the wi-fi network. It may take a minute to connect, but it is quick and done with a press of a button.
Connecting using a network key or PIN:
If your printer doesn’t have WPS, you’ll probably have to enter a ‘network key’ to connect your printer to WiFi. The printer uses the function buttons and screen on the printer in order to establish the connection between your printer and router.
Provided you haven’t changed the password since, the network key will be in your router’s documentation, or on a label on the router.
